Depot Village is the perfect destination conveniently located in Downtown Gainesville, Florida. Guests enjoy a unique boutique hotel experience rich with traditional charm.
The exact date Depot Village was built is unknown. We do know it was before 1884, because of photos we know that by 1884 additions were added to the building, evidence that Depot Village had been around before 1884. If we had to guess, Depot Village was originally built around 1870.
One of the past residents - managed to research the history of the house and found out that Depot Village is the second oldest house in Gainesville Still Standing (the oldest house in Gainesville is located between 4th st. and 6th, the Mathsison house (1853).
Depot Village has gone thru a lot of owners over the years. The construction of the house is large hard pine timbers. It sits on pie lins that are just carved pieces of limestone dug out of the ground.
In the mid 20th century, it became the Gainesville Zen Center and hostel. Over the years several thousand people have stayed there.
One of the oldest buildings in Gainesville, Florida, Depot Village is truly a hidden gem.
